Examination of tau phosphorylation sites in GVDs. Double immunofluorescence of two adjacent sections from the CA1 of an AD case (#18) with four p-tau specific antibodies: Ser²¹²/Thr²¹⁴ (AT100, FITC), Ser²⁶² (Cy3), Ser²⁰²/Thr²⁰⁵ (AT8, FITC), Ser⁴²² (Cy3). Neurofibrillary tangles (arrows) and neuropil threads (arrowheads) are stained with all four antibodies. The magnified neuron is stained with all four antibodies, and only the Ser²⁶² site can be observed in granular deposits in the cytoplasm (arrowheads in inset), corresponding to GVDs.
